I offer loving, experienced labor support for mothers giving birth in the hospital and assistance for women breastfeeding babies of any age. I have helped over six hundred families to give birth and breastfeed since 1991, as well as having birthed and nursed my own two beautiful daughters.

 Thank you for visiting my website.  As of May 28, 2010, I will no longer be taking new doula or lactation consultation clients.   I will be attending Pacific Lutheran University's Master of Nursing program, with the goal of becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.  Once these (and more!) services become available again, I will revise this site.

What experience does Sarah have?

I graduated from the Seattle Midwifery School in 1992, and practiced for eight years as a home birth Licensed Midwife in Olympia. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and a Master of Public Health degree in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Washington. I have taught courses in labor support, postpartum and newborn care, professional issues, and epidemiology at the Seattle Midwifery School, as well as having taught prenatal yoga and childbirth education. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and a Certified Doula through DONA International. I love working with families from many backgrounds, and relish both the universality of birth and the individuality of each woman's experience.

I am a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association, DONA International, and the Midwives' Association of Washington State, and the Midwives Alliance of North America. I am presently on the midwifery and doula faculty of the Seattle Midwifery School, and am a member of the Midwives Alliance of North America.
