I provide individual lactation consultations for families with a child of any age, whether they are having difficulties, or simply want support and education concerning breastfeeding. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I offer home and office visits to help women and babies with a host of issues concerning breastfeeding. These issues may include:

• Difficulties with latch, positioning
• Sore or injured nipples
• Engorgement
• Baby who is fussy or sleepy at the breast
• Excessive weight loss or inadequate weight gain
• Concern about milk supply
• Multiples
• Illness, prematurity, or baby's development that interfere with breastfeeding
• Bringing baby to breastfeeding after finger feeding, bottle feeding, nipple shields, formula, or other supplementation or feeding methods
• Other breastfeeding questions and concerns

Many women self-refer for lactation consultations. Others are referred by their midwife, physician, or other health care practitioner. Women who receive services from WIC at the Thurston County Health Department may be able to have lactation consultation covered by WIC. Please call for more information.

Visits can often be scheduled within 24-48 hours.
